Backwoods Bungalow
Sunshine Coast, British Columbia, Canada
Anyone having the fortune to visit this remote island home would be amazed by the full amenities and creature comforts incorporated into this home. The large covered porch provides plenty of shelter at this often rainy location but still lets in plenty of natural light. The timber-frame is a hybrid approach with timberwork concentrated in the common spaces and private spaces (bedrooms, bathrooms, utility) are conventionally framed. Because of the remote location, erection of the timber frame was completed without the use of a crane. Just ingenuity.
