We affectionately refer to this style of timberwork as ‘trimber frame’. Basically, it consists of non-structural timber accents added to the exterior of a home to create a traditional timber frame look. Often the challenge is to get the right scaling in proportion to the house. This was a particularly large home at 14,000 sq. ft. The 4 post clusters help to provide scale without requiring more costly timbers of a massive cross-section.
